How to choose control weights for a VGP inspection or load testing?

There is no such thing as a universal test weight set. A suitable solution must be sized according to the equipment, the load to be reached and the actual operating conditions.

1. Which equipment do you need to inspect?

Overhead crane, forklift, telehandler, aerial work platform, jib crane, hoist, freight elevator, lift table… Each piece of equipment has its own constraints.

2. What load do you need to reach?

You need to determine the maximum load required, but also the different load steps you will need to be able to build.

3. What accuracy do you need?

OSC rolled-steel control weights offer an accuracy of ± 2%, and adjustment weights let you fine-tune the composition of the load.

4. How much space do you have?

Access and the available footprint are decisive.

  • Essential focuses on versatility and modularity.
  • Spacefit is designed for confined or hard-to-reach spaces.
  • Compact offers mobility and a very small footprint for lower capacities.
  • Flex Load makes load adjustment easier while reducing handling.

5. How will you handle your weights?

Overhead crane, forklift, jib crane, available height under the hook or a lack of handling equipment: all of these must be taken into account as soon as the set is defined.

OSC’s advice: start from how you use it, not from the catalog

Tell us which equipment you inspect, what load you need to reach and the environment you work in. Our teams will advise you on the composition of the test weight set and the right accessories.

A question about your load testing?

Our teams analyze your constraints to point you to the right range, composition and accessories.
