More than 45 years of expertise
Founded in 1981 in the Marne department (51), OSC quickly established itself as a key player in material handling and industrial safety.
The pioneer of regulatory control weights
From the outset, the company specialized in the highly technical field of lifting. It focused its know-how on the design and manufacture of ballast weight sets and control weights, essential for VGP periodic inspections (Vérifications Générales Périodiques).
A culture of patents and safety
Technical innovation is part of OSC’s DNA. To make the mandatory static and dynamic tests of lifting equipment (cranes, overhead cranes, forklifts, aerial work platforms) safer, the company developed and patented a unique system of modular, interlocking control weights held together by a central safety rod. This patented system has become the absolute market benchmark: it keeps the weights locked together if the equipment suffers a technical failure during a test, for example a failure of the brakes, the cable or the structure of the equipment being tested.
For OSC, it is also a technical foundation that allows the product to evolve and new ranges to be developed to meet specific requirements.
2007, a strategic turning point
In 2007, the Oxymetal Group acquired OSC, a company based in the Marne region. This merger marked a key milestone for both companies:

For the first time, the French leader in industrial cutting began producing its own products with OSC, diversifying its historical offering of flame cutting and laser cutting.

Located in Poilly, near Reims, the OSC by Oxymetal site carries this heritage forward while modernizing. It brings together two unique, complementary areas of expertise on one production site:
The historic OSC division
We remain the exclusive manufacturer of the patented OSC test load range (test weight sets, CACES control weights and load test platforms of more than 50 tonnes), highly regarded by inspection bodies and lifting equipment manufacturers.
The Cutting & Finishing division
Working in close synergy, the site excels in heavy-plate industrial subcontracting: precision flame cutting and high value-added operations such as CNC machining.
